Introduction to Feminism

1) Why did Laura Bates start the Everyday Sexism project?

2) How does the Everyday Sexism project link to the concept of post-feminism? Is feminism still required in western societies?

3) Why was new technology essential to the success of the Everyday Sexism project?

4) Will there be a point in the future when the Everyday Sexism project is not required? What is YOUR view on the future of feminism?

1) After being victim of sexual harassment, cat calling, and being groped on the bus 3 times within a week and the frequency it happens to not just her but other woman also prompted her to start the Everyday Sexism project. She also also realised that there was major gap between men and women in law, the arts and other institutions.
2) The everyday sexism project promotes social change in the attitudes towards sexual assault/ harassment in both men and women. This paves the way for equality as more people will stand up against sexism.

3) Technology was essential to the success of the everyday sexism project because of the freedom of speech it gives people. On social media, people can relate to each other without having to know them

4)There may be a point in the future where it wont be needed, however it wont be in the near future. There is still a long way to go before everyday sexism will be completely abolished and in my opinion, I dont feel there will be a time where there is absolutely no sexism.
